SEIU 1021 Members of the City of Sebastopol Proudly Endorse Measure U

SEIU 1021 Members keep our roads safe, parks beautiful and maintain safe drinking water for all who live in and visit our beautiful city. Our members work in Public Works, Finance, Planning and Building and provide support ot our Fire Department which are critical for economic growth and safety for our community.

The City's budget has been hit hard with rising costs while also contending with flat revenue. For years, our membership has been asked to do more with less staff and fewer resources to do our jobs. This is not sustainable and without Measure U, it will become increasingly challenging to fulfill our mission to keep Sebastopol a truly special place.

We stand with Community Leaders, the City Council, and the Sebastopol Police Officers Association and strongly encourages the voters of this great city to vote YES on Measure U. This measure wil make future investments to help our city flourish for future generations.

On behalf of the SEIU 1021 Sebastopol Steward Council and Membership.

Sincerely,

Pattie Murphy

Though I am not a Sebastopol resident, I enjoy shopping and visiting downtown Sebastopol. And being a second generation "Sebastopolian," I'm quite attached to this welcoming and supportive community. And the City council has made significant efforts to trim its budget, but more is needed. Thus, I support Measure U to help with the city's infrastructure and safety needs. — Alan Murakami

It takes money to make Sebastopol a better place to live. This small tax helps all of us. Lynn — Lynn Deedler

I support Measure U. — Wayne Stanfield

There are always more things to fund (and requests to do so) in Sebastopol than there are funds to allocate to them. But first, you have to fund the basic operations of City Government to provide for the people. After that, you get to add in some of these requests. A shining example of this would be funding the Peacetown Summer Concert Series. The return on the City’s modest contribution is enormous in terms of community, joy and friendship. Having additional revenues will help in continuing to meet the needs and desires of the citizens of Sebastopol into the future. Please vote YES on Measure U. — John Eder

Sebastopol's government needs Measure U, to continue to provide the services we need. — Neil Herring

If you will excuse the double meaning, past actions by City staff and policy makers are water under the bridge. Complaining does not change our current budget situation. Only we can do that ...by voting for Measure U, the additional 1/2 sales tax which can bring new, reliable revenues into our city to take care of OUR water and seer systems, as well as other necessary services we count on from our City Please vote YES on Measure U. — Gale Brownell

I support the city’s ability to increase revenues toward a balanced budget. — Rick Williams
Board President, Sebastopol Community Cultural Center

While I don’t like raising taxes any more than anyone else, I support this measure. A sales tax hike spreads the cost out to everyone who uses our streets, water and services while creating funding for badly needed infrastructure upgrades. — Cynthi Stefenoni

This sales tax is essential to the future of our town! — Diana Rich
Sebastopol Mayor & Councilmember

This increase will help Sebastopol obtain more financial stability and that will lead to it being an even more exciting place to live and visit. — Stephen Zollman
Sebastopol Vice Mayor & Councilmember

As someone who lives outside the city limits and who uses the city of Sebastopol as my downtown, I would gladly pay an additional 1/2 cent sales tax to ensure a brighter future for this beloved town! — Becca Lipski

Yes on U. — Lisa Pierce

Let’s help our amazing city continue to delight and deliver so much to so many in one small town! — Mitcho Thompson
